Smoke Detector

All sensors and accessory components supplied with your CarPro-Tec are already taught-in and fully configured.

Please use the CarPro-Tec quick guide for the initial commissioning of your new CarPro-Tec. Thes detailed instructions will help you with detailed setting options.

General information

The smoke detector works with a 9V block battery and has a battery life of approx. 5 years. It also has a visual and audible battery monitoring function and alerts you approx. 4 to 6 weeks before the battery needs to be replaced. 

Our wireless smoke detector triggers an alarm independently via an integrated alarm siren even without CarPro-Tec activated. This means that you are reliably warned of danger even when the alarm system is deactivated.

Teach-in

Note: All sensors and accessory components supplied with your CarPro-Tec are already programmed and configured.

1. Press and hold the ACCESSORIES button on the CarPro-Tec with a thin object. (ACCESSORIES LED in the status LED bar lights up red)
2. Now press the TEST button on the smoke detector (see Fig. 10). (The smoke detector sounds several beeps)
3. The CarPro-Tec beeps twice if the teach-in process is successful.
4. Release the ACCESSORIES button.

Installation instructions

The smoke detector is fitted in the centre of the living area of the vehicle if the ceiling is level. If the level of your living area ceiling is interrupted by a drop-down bed, we recommend installing a second smoke detector (on the ceiling in front of and behind the drop-down bed.

We recommend screwless installation using the 3M magnetic pads supplied. Please observe the installation instructions for 3M adhesive pads.

Installation examples

Changing the battery

Lithium batteries must be replaced after 5 years at the latest, even if the low battery message has not yet been triggered.

The smoke detector beeps briefly at regular intervals when the battery level is low to alert you.

Maintenance

For your own safety, your smoke detector should be checked/maintained regularly.

Weekly

Check the LED display of the smoke alarm (flash once every 30 - 60 seconds).

Quarterly

Visual inspection to ensure that the smoke inlets are freely accessible and that the smoke alarm is not damaged. 

A function test of the smoke alarm device must be carried out by means of a test alarm using the test button directly on the smoke alarm device or by means of a smoke alarm test spray.

Annually

Each smoke detector has a chamber in which the air is tested by optical sensors.

Over the years, dust settles on the sensors, which can lead to false triggering. The annual cleaning of the smoke detector's test chamber can be carried out with a hoover to remove the accumulated dust in the smoke detector. The smoke alarm is vacuumed directly in all cracks and corners using the appropriate hoover nozzle.

By law, the smoke alarm must be replaced after 10 years.
